Location: Vancouver, BC
Area of modular portion of building:
15,048 sq. ft.
Number of building modules: 32
Features: This temporary classroom complex was designed for installation on a tennis court under very tight site constraints for use over a 3 or 4 year period to allow for seismic upgrading and the construction of an addition to the existing school.
Consisting of seventeen buildings, the complex was designed with site-installed connecting corridors to make all buildings accessible through covered hallways and staircases with ceiling skylights and corridor roof venting to provide natural light and ventilation.
High efficiency wall-mounted and rooftop self-contained HVAC units optimize zoning control with low noise intrusion critical for a learning environment while introducing sufficient quantities of fresh air to maintain indoor air quality levels. Automatic night set-back thermostats reduce energy use during non-occupied times of the day & week and the library rooftop HVAC unit incorporates an economizer to utilize "free cooling" when possible for reduced energy consumption. |
