Panorama Mountain Village asked Britco to design and build an innovative employee housing complex. Because of the remote location, there are very few places for employees to find affordable housing making it difficult for the resort to hire and retain employees. The challenge was to maximize a small piece of land, design a facility to accommodate 96 workers, and complement the architecture of the high-end resort.

This Intrawest resort staff housing complex consists of two identical buildings divided into four quadrants per floor with each quadrant independent of the others. The quadrants consist of four bedrooms with shared washrooms and a fully-equipped common kitchen and dining area.

Two quadrants on the main floor make up the common space which includes a large lounge area with an electric stone-hearth fireplace as well as a laundry room, locker room and computer room. All doors and windows are painted wood with craftsman frames. Timber-framed entrances provide functional, protective refuge from harsh winter conditions.

The fourth floor was designed to make use of the steep roof slope and meet the requirement for additional bedrooms with a loft appeal. The buildings are three modules wide and the top floor has an additional module in the centre with the roof built around it.
