This two-storey building was designed as the head office for a local construction company with management and accounting offices, conference room, reception, lunchroom and washrooms on the main floor and project administration staff on the second floor. The client required a comfortable, effective working environment for employees with a level of finishes, millwork and furnishings that would impress their customers. The window configuration and front entry canopy were designed to add presence to the building and project a professional first impression.
The building was designed with the latest rainscreen technology to ensure dry, breathable walls and eliminate the prospect of mold and mildew. The foundation is a concrete strip footing and perimeter wall, insulated and heated to maintain a constant building temperature and was designed to accommodate a full-access concrete ramp while minimizing the entry height from grade level. Each floor has its own high-efficiency HVAC system and operates independent of each other. Energy-efficient features include numerous, low-E windows to maximize natural light.
